Other types of leaders

 

The participatory leader

This leader gets totally involved in the department’s line of work. He or she may not be described as a ‘doer’ as such, but makes sure that work gets completed to achieve the business aims. Effective monitoring, inspiration, direction, support and setting targets are main features of this type of leader.

 

The charismatic leader

The prevailing quality of this leader is his or her friendly character- tender, generous and understanding, even during hard times. He or she motivates his or her subordinates by his or her charisma. He or she is lenient, not fussy and not a bossy like the autocratic leader. This type of leader recognizes the ups and downs of subordinates and gets task done. Similar to the participatory leader he or she allows maximum assistance or involvement by subordinates.

 

The political leader

Individuals who register as a candidate for election may routinely become a political leader somehow. This leader is not a business leader however he or she is viewed or alleged to be a leader. After winning his or her seat they become a superior leader.

 

The emergent or appointed leader (the volunteer)

In the event that there is work to be done and no one wants to do it, except one individual. That individual materializes as a leader by volunteering to take on the job. He or she is determined, courageous and full of character. He or she is selected as leader by members.

 

The traditional or hereditary leader

You can find this type of leader among royal or majestic families, in which princes and princesses turn out to be kings and queens. Such leaders are found in England, Far East and Middle East.
