Uses Of Books Of Original Entry

In many businesses at present, some form of records generally maintains business transactions.  These books are used to record information in daily journals or books of original entries.  These journals are the primary outline of certified records of any dealings.

A Journal is an accounting documentation that is used to confirm the different types of transactions in sequential order. Journals are frequently named the books of original entry. This is because this is the initial place that business transactions are officially documented.

Specific Journals are journals used to originally document particular types of transactions such as sales and purchases. Hence these journals are intended to record particular types of business transactions and place the totals gathered in these journals to the General Ledger occasionally (typically once a month).
