The Bird of Prey

As it cuts through the sky, the bird of prey

With razor wings piercing through the air

Projecting needle claws without delay

Throwing a shadow, its prey will fear

The hunter flies in circles, slicing wind

A knife chopping through a velvet sky

With the cracking of thunder in its scream

Plunging down from under the sun’s eye

The diver sculpts within penetration

Falling to earth like a meteorite

Upon the kill, to claw with each talon

With an embrace deadly as the night

Within a blink, the hunter lifts the dead

From the earth, death chained in links of feet

Sailing the waves of the winds to the bed;

The stalker’s night nest, to be a feast

Have your say
