Poetry The Detonation (Litany)

Detonate!

The blind will see the words

The deaf will hear the words

The dumb will speak the words

The crippled will be healed by the words

The dead will rise by the words

Detonate!

In your anatomy of Uranium skin

Beryllium-Polonium core and Plutonium organs

Deuterium and Tritium nucleus sealed in

You are like the nuclear weapons

A weapon for imagination

The mind you will set off to shatter

Producing a fireball of heat, light and radiation

Stem and domed cap your structure

Detonate!

Force of many megatons exploding with;

The repetition of consonants in your alliteration

The human attributes in your personification

A balance of contrast in your antithesis

An ironic understatement in your litotes

A deliberate exaggeration in every hyperbole

The comparison with ‘like’ or ‘as’ in every simile

The comparison between two in your metaphor

The use of sound in your onomatopoeia

With crude use for dispraise in your sarcasm

With representation of something in your symbolism

The play on words in your pun

Contradictory terms together in your oxymoron

Conveying the opposite of what seems to be, in your irony

Creating appealing pictures in your imagery

Repeating for emphasis in your repetition

A device of argument in your rhetorical question

With use of criticism and wit in your satire

Are the energies of the bomb in your style?

Detonate!

In your words persons:

See what is not there

Smell what is not there

Feel what is not there

Taste what is not there

Hear what is not there

In the detonation

More powerful than the atomic bomb

An explosion of imagination

I search for perfection

In this nuclear fission

Within your protons

Within your neutrons

Within your electrons

Poetry like atoms

Poetry the art form

Poetry lives on!

Have your say
