A presentation program is software put together to exhibit information in the form of a slide show. It has three major components: an editor that permits text to be placed and formatted, a system for putting in and operating images, and a slide-show system to exhibit the information.

A presentation is a progression of slides. A slide show is a production displayed in view of an audience. This is shown from a computer with a projector on a screen. A presentation shown to an audience can include graphics, text, video, audio and links to other programs. A presentation is normally shown in full screen view.

Presentation software is becoming popular for instructions, courses, seminars, meetings and other functions.  With the use of data projectors efficient presentations can be arranged easily.
