Abandonment
When she left it was like evening
Like the sun in the west reddening
Creating shadows upon the land
Getting ready for the long night’s sleep
And birds in symphony singing
The diurnal land was like a bed
His body stood idle, stood dead
Eventually stars crawled through the sky
With the gentle music of crickets
The silence of nightfall was his cry
The moon like a snail crept soundlessly
Painted silver colours in the sea
Under the immense unmeasured sky
Her departure seemed like forever
He closed his eyes as tears went free
