The Last Supper
At the beginning
Of every new day
His meal is uncertain
Where would his meal lie?
Just take what he gets
Beggars must not be
Choosers
For the day he will
Search in every bin
Until he gets what’s
As needful as the sun
Like a dog he is
A predator on
His prey,
The trash
Clawing rubbish with
Talons of an eagle
Getting his only
Good meal for the day
He sits by the roadside
The sidewalk is his
Dining room
Table
Sitting with family
His own disciples
During the meal he takes
The bread remembering
Mass every Sunday
And the teaching that
Jesus blessed the bread,
Broke it and gave it
To his disciples
Saying
“This is my body,
Which will be given
Up for you, do this in
Memory
Of me”
He eats the bread with
His disciples the beggars
Like himself
He gets some water
To drink and in the
Same way he remembers
Mass every Sunday
And the teaching that
When supper was ended
Jesus took a cup
Saying, “This is the
Cup of my blood, the
Blood of the new
Covenant
It will be shed
For you and for all so
That sins may be
Forgiven”
He drinks the water
His wine with his
Disciples the
Beggars like
Himself
Again remembering
Mass every Sunday
And the teaching that
Jesus said, “The man
Who is going to
Betray me is sitting
Here at the table
With me
I shall be handed
Over as it was
Foretold that I should be
But alas for the
Man who betrays me”
A beggar like
Himself will betray him
That disciple will
Bring death upon him
Like Judas betrayed
Jesus
One beggar
Will betray
Another
By eating the last
Piece of bread
Not leaving for his
Brother for tomorrow
So he will die
For starvation
Will be like death
Today
Is his
Last supper
His
Last supper
