Addition and Subtraction of Algebraic Fractions Method
The process used to add and subtract algebraic fractions is as follows:
1) We must first try to get the lowest common denominator (L.C.D), that is, the lowest common multiple of the denominators of the algebraic fractions.
2) We then state each algebraic fraction in terms of the lowest common denominator (L.C.D), that is, the lowest common multiple of the denominators of the algebraic fractions.
3) The distributive law is then utilized to take out all brackets in the numerator if there are any.
4) Like terms in the numerator are grouped together or jointly and then added and subtracted.
5) To finish, the fraction is reduced to its lowest terms if possible.
