Strategies used to resolve Conflict part 1
There are some particular strategies that the principles of business need us to think about:
Mediation
Arbitration
Trade union representation;
Mediation
This involves the intervention or intercession between people or groups for the purpose of settling them in terms of getting them to come to some sort of harmony or union or by re-establishing peace. The individual who intercedes is called the mediator.
Arbitration
This is a course of action of listening to a disagreement, investigating the details and deciding on the disputing parties. The individual who intervenes in this instance is known as the arbitrator and that individual is chosen based on conformity or an agreement between parties. The Industrial Disputes Tribunal is known as the arbitrator in most instances. Together the parties see eye to eye that they will allow the ruling or judgment of the arbitrator.
Trade unions
One can allow conflicts to be settled through the dealings of trade unions. A trade union is composed of a collection of workers who unite in negotiating with the employer on concerns that impinge on them that is made more forcefully. Trade unions may intercede in disagreements particularly when they are present between worker and administration. The key individual is called the union delegate or the shop steward. In terms of a conflict resolution, the manager can also set up a grievance procedure, which involves the process a worker can take in resolving a conflict within the organization. These processes may involve mediation, arbitration, Ministry of Labour as well as the court of appeal.
