Characteristics of a Good Leader
A leader is someone who leads or gives direction with authority over a collection of persons. His or her task is to inspire the collection of persons to realize their goals set out. Hence leadership is about persuading or motivating a collection of persons towards the execution of goals. The following are the characteristics of a good leader.
Honesty and integrity
One can see that it is essential for a leader to have this quality as it makes them responsible and trustworthy. They are seen as sincere and hence deserve the admiration and respect of those below them.
Excellent communication skills
Leaders should be capable of communicating successfully with individuals at all levels of the organization or business. As a leader one should be able to hand down directives and give an ear to workers’ views, grievances and ideas. This will encourage harmony among leaders and subordinates.
Intelligent and Common Sense
This looks at being sensible and having good decision making skills. Leaders must make decisions often and therefore need to be smart. This quality also refers to wisdom and hence portrays someone who is clever, observant and sensible.
Dedicated and loyal
A leader must be a devoted example for others. This person should have faith in the objectives of the organization and inspire others to accomplish it. This person constant work ethics will represent commitment and faithfulness to their task.
