A safe place of work
You must have:
1) Buildings in good condition
2) Safety measures such as fences or rails to prevent people or materials falling from
open spaces
3) Room for secure movement and right to use, eg to machinery
4) Secure glassing where needed, distinct to make it trouble-free to see
5) Floors, corridors and stairs not have obstacles
7) Windows should be safe
You must have:
1) Safe route for persons and vehicles
2) Surfaces must not be slippery
3) Handrails on stairs where needed
4) Safe and sound doors
5) Level areas
6) Outside areas should have light.
Work stations
Work stations and seating must be comfortable for the worker and the work. Make sure that:
1) Back rests hold up the small of the back and foot rests are given where
required
2) All work surfaces must be at a reasonable altitude
3) There should be trouble-free admission to controls
4) Working in and moving around the workshop must be easy
