Telephone Etiquette
When you answer the phone, start with a greeting
That is courtesy
Sit up straight and smile when you are talking
That is decency
Do not eat or drink while talking
That is civility
With limited time, explain to the caller you must leave shortly
That is propriety
Speak in short sentences and clearly
That is formality
Never interrupt the caller
That is manners
Always have a notepad or pen for messages
That is behaviour of standards
It’s your responsibility to have the knowledge to help callers
That is protocol and nothing less
Take time to get information for your callers
That is politeness
