At The Hush Of The Night
In a serene room at the hush of night
My sister and I sat by the bedside
And listened to the marching seaside wind
Danced like a huge carnival in their stride
I looked at her starless, ebony eyes
In the dim candle-light that was so weak
We were alone in a sea of mystique
Hidden in a place of a sunless world
Outside, an almond tree swaying away
With the musical sound of every leaf
Shuffled to let all the moonlight display
Whilst their blurry shadows pranced on the ground
And all throughout the long dusky morning
We watched the moon through the glassy window
Crawled through the wide sky of a gloomy world
Passing mountaintops in its parading
And as the golden sunlight came slowly
Cuddles the edges of our rooftops
The sounds of animals were in the air
Awoke by the greetings of the sun’s care
The hush of night was no longer a dream
The day invaded like a gradual stream
The sun climbed mountains like a mountaineer
The hush of night was gone like yesterday
