The Swallow
Graceful feathers swimming the air
With long, powerful, cutting wings
And small feet suited for roosting
When swallow stands on branch watching
It has a wide mouth to grasp insects
Flying insects, which make up its food
Swallow eats numerous mosquitoes
Almost all parts of the world it goes
It commonly lives in open
Or somewhat open country
Time after time near the water
It moves to avoid cold weather
Between summer and winter it migrates
The Barn or Cliff travels thousands of miles
It migrates to new homes, in search of foods
It flies by day and spends the night in woods
This elegant bird is sociable
Nests in pairs and sometimes colonies
Nests in holes of riverbanks or trees
In bridges, rafters or under eaves
