Swamps
Swamps,
Lands as wet as fish where trees and shrubs grow
Water dwells almost all year through
Swamps,
Befall worldwide
In lowlands and coastal areas,
Near rivers flowing as slow as snails moving
Swamps,
Woody anatomy
More plants than do marshes
Swamps,
Plants and animals
As various as variety
As wide as ambition
Swamps,
Soils moist like wet tissue
Fosters plant life, trees, shrubs and vines
Swamps,
Ponds and streams furnished with fish, frogs and reptiles
Such as snakes, turtles, crocodiles and alligators
Birds, insects and mammals such as bears, rabbits and deer
Swamps,
As fresh as the sea’s breath of wind
Or as salty as the sea’s saliva
Swamps.
